abstract:
This paper investigates the grammar of ablative causes in Hungarian to provide evidence for the non-causal analysis of anticausatives. The key argument is that these ablatives genuinely introduce direct causes in different syntactic contexts, including anticausative constructions. An analysis is provided within the framework of Reinhart's Theta System.
