abstract:
FrameNet (Baker, Fillmore and Lowe 1998) is a large-scale empirical investigation of the English language based on Frame Semantics (cf. Fillmore 1968, 1976; Fillmore and Atkins 1994). The first part of this paper is a short overview of the project. In the second part, I briefly describe my FrameNet-related experiment in semantic role labeling and put it in the context of current "full-text" annotation efforts, which is evaluated from a critical perspective.
