abstract:
This paper discusses how Larkin's well-known poem ?This Be The Verse" has been re-written by four contemporary poets: Maurice Rutherford, Roger McGough, Adrian Mitchell, and Benjamin Zephaniah. Each of them went their own ways: Rutherford domesticated the image, McGough wrote an angry pamphlet, Mitchell turned the meaning up side down, and Zephaniah wrote a piece of propaganda in a postcolonial context.
