Prestuplenie i sudebnoe razbiratel'stvo v "Brat'jah Karamazovyh" Dostoevskogo i "Voskresenii" Tolstogo

The article deals with some components of the socio-criminal narrative in the novel by F.M. Dostoevsky "The Brothers Karamazov" and in the novel "Resurrection" by L. N. Tolstoy. These masterpieces can also be studied from this, new perspective, despite the fact that they do not quite meet the definition of a detective: they push the actions of investigators to the background, focusing on ethical problems, eternal questions and events of a global scale, in particular, the fall and salvation of man. The analysis is carried out both at the level of the history of the heroes who, because of the feeling of guilt for an immoral life lived, are ready to embark on the path of redemption, and also at the level of discourse, which unfolds the problem of the word and genre of the novel. Similarities and differences in the presentation of the investigation of cases and trials, as well as the evaluative attitude to crimes and punishments, are also revealed.
